That Spelling Thing
- 1. Not a programme but an approach for any student who is not a beginning reader.
- 2. Linguistic phonics/speech to print/SLL plus everyday morphology for vocabulary growth.
- 3. Created for secondary school & beyond. Can be adapted for about age 9/10 and up.
- 4. Expect improved spelling & increased vocabulary with impact on comprehension for those who can already read.
- 5. Progress is cumulative and long term. It develops language rather than teaching reading.
- 6. Whole class or small group.
- 7. Structured but not sequential - an approach to any word.
- 8. Delivered by anyone willing to learn the approach and who has a curiosity about words.
