• The low cost of That Reading Thing is part of our inclusive ethos and our striving for high quality provision for young people and adults who need it most.
• We want everyone to be able to afford the full package of training, resources and support and still have money in the budget to pay for some one-to-one hours.
• TRT is the affordable solution for schools which have invested in expensive literacy programmes but find they have students who need a more supportive approach in order to access those programmes or find they have students who refuse to engage in something that feels too young for them.
• Private tutors trained in other linguistic phonics (speech to print) programs often purchase That Reading Thing for their older students.
• For parents and other individuals, TRT costs less than a handful of tutoring sessions.

• We’re flexible! You can train several staff members at once then add as needed or train one at a time over several years.
• Discounts for orders of 10 or more on the same invoice and for prison education.

Talk to us about what will work best for you.

• The training is online and accessed in your own time.
• Put aside 7-8 hours over 3 or 4 sessions to complete the course.
• The content is the same as two full days of face-to-face training so the online course can’t be completed in a single day.
• It can be done in two but even that requires a lot of concentration.

• We suggest an hour of one-to-one per student per week, but that can be delivered over 2 or 3 sessions.
• The challenge with shorter sessions is making sure you have time to read together.
• The least we recommend for good results is 30 minutes per week.
• You can make sessions longer as students gain stamina.

• TRT is paced at exactly the speed your student needs, hence the one-to-one lessons.
• A student who has just missed out on learning to read may take as little as 12 hours to be ready to move on.
• A student with learning needs will take longer.
• All students need time to do lots of reading one-to-one until they feel confident enough to tackle what their peers are reading in class.
