September 2007

  • IMPACT in Bootle, Liverpool is an Alternative Curriculum School with 180 Key stage 4 pupils (14-16 year olds). The IMPACT staff have been the first recipients of Explicit Language training and a further 14 are in the process of taking the more intensive ThatReadingThing one-to-one training.
  • ThatReadingThing Tower Hamlets is hosting a training for volunteers. They continue to grow and will have there own in-house traininer by the end of September. When TRT first came into being, the vision was to equip small organisations to provide their own training. They are part of the Gap Project.
  • Forest YMCA is working with Connexions to equip workers to help their young people with reading difficulties.
  • We’re also working with Worth Unlimited, looking at creative ways of partnering to make sure more young people receive effective and relational literacy help.
  • Finally, I’ve been invited to speak at the Welsh Dyslexia Project’s October conference. See here for more information.
